Savanna Elephant: The Gentle Giants of Africa

The savanna elephant (Loxodonta africana) is the largest land animal on Earth, found in the grasslands and forests of sub-Saharan Africa. Known for their immense size, intelligence, and strong social bonds, these elephants live in matriarchal herds led by the eldest female.

Savanna elephants play a critical role in their ecosystems by shaping landscapes and creating water holes used by other animals. However, they face severe threats from poaching for ivory and habitat destruction. International conservation efforts focus on anti-poaching measures, habitat preservation, and raising awareness about the importance of these magnificent creatures.
