Amur Tiger: A Survivor of the Cold
The Amur tiger (Panthera tigris altaica), also known as the Siberian tiger, is the largest of all tiger subspecies. Adapted to the harsh climates of the Russian Far East, these tigers have thick fur and a layer of fat that protects them from freezing temperatures.
Amur tigers are apex predators, playing a vital role in maintaining the balance of their ecosystems. However, poaching and habitat loss have significantly reduced their population. Conservation programs have made progress in protecting these magnificent animals, but continuous efforts are needed to ensure their survival.
